The PoE+ switch is an essential active networking device in any Ethernet infrastructure using power transmission through the structural cabling. RSGE-24P-2GE-2S-360 is dedicated to all kinds of installations: home, business, low-voltage, surveillance, IP, VoIP, cable TV networks, and in a particular product can be used in alarm, fire, or access control system.

Apart from the switch's primary function, i.e., supporting Ethernet frame transfer between ports, the device also provides a power supply for each appliance in PoE/PoE+ standard – 802.3af and at. This means that the switch can supply the devices with a total of up to 360 W. All of this is combined with data transmission at the same time.

As a result, such a solution saves resources, space, and time to install a separate electrical and network infrastructure. This is especially important if the network is dispersed and its end-devices do not have direct access to the power source, in particular, when they are mounted outside.

The switch is fitted with a total of 28 ports, including 24 PoE+ (Gigabit Ethernet), 2 Uplink (Gigabit Ethernet) and 2 Uplink (SFP Gigabit) ports. The well-thought-out design and attention to details and quality of components enable the user to achieve up to 360 W of real power for the end-devices, which translates into the simultaneous connection of:

24 IEEE 802.3af devices (max. 15W per port) or,
12 IEEE 802.3at devices (max. 30W per port),

The 4 remaining (Uplink) ports (2xGigabit Ethernet and 2xSFP Gigabit) operate independently and can operate simultaneously. Dedicated to transferring data traffic between 24 PoE+ ports and external devices. In the case of surveillance/control systems, this is particularly useful as it allows the user to simultaneously play the recording(s) from the IP cameras on the NVR and share it further, e.g., in the local network or on the Internet.

It is not always clear how switches will behave when the available PoE budget is exceeded. There are several possibilities: the one that exceeds the budget or a random port or the recently connected one will be disconnected. In the last case, what will be their order after a power outage and restoration when all cables are simultaneously connected to the switch?

Lanberg has introduced an innovative solution in the RS series switches that eliminates all doubts about the mechanics of RJ-45 ports.

When the PoE budget is exceeded (e.g., due to a device connected to port 1), the switch will start disconnecting the PoE ports from the highest numbered one until the sum of loads does not exceed the available budget while keeping the remaining ports intact. Those that are disconnected will, in effect, alternately turn off and on.

This functionality is primarily dedicated to demanding applications that emphasize safety and continuity of operation, requiring some devices to work continuously regardless of the situation. In such cases, Lanberg switches will help the user to safeguard sensitive devices by connecting them to the port with the lowest number.

By default, the standard switches ensure that the devices can operate at distances of up to 100 m on a single Ethernet cable. However, sometimes, it turns out that a unique solution beyond the standard is required when developing cabling and network structure due to the extensive core network and complex environment. In the case of surveillance systems, this is quite a common problem, resulting from the too-long distance between the distribution device and the end-device.

Lanberg switches have a feature that enables data transmission (max. 10 Mbps) and PoE+ power supply up to 250 m on a single cable section. Just toggle the switch position to „PoE+ Extend 250 m” on the housing to ensure the long-distance operation for ports 1 ~ 24.

The solution has been introduced for surveillance, IP, and access control systems, especially if the power equipment is located outside without the possibility of installing additional network distribution points

The switch itself, as well as the devices connected to it, are repeatedly exposed to various dangers, including electrostatic discharges that can flow through both the power and network cables.

With the safety of both the devices and their users in mind, Lanberg has equipped the switch with an integrated discharge protection system that guarantees 4 kV protection for all ports, effectively reducing their damage due to a surge in voltage.

Under standard conditions, the network operation will continue without interruptions, just like the switch. At the same time, the user gains the safety of the device and infrastructure.

The series of RS switches is characterized not only by the quality of manufacturing, simplicity of use, the functionality of the device but also by complementarity in installation and supplied accessories.

Lanberg added a set of accessories for flexible installation of the switches. The RSGE-24P-2GE-2S-360 has been provided with separate mounting ears for 19" Rack cabinets, as well as a healthy supply of screws (except for M6). This enables a wider range of applications and greater freedom of installation of the RS series switches.

Lanberg RSGE-24P-2GE-2S-360. Switch type: Unmanaged.
